Númenor – Rings of Power

“As a reward for their sufferings in the cause against Morgoth, the Valar, the Guardians of the World, granted to the Edain a land to dwell in, removed from the dangers of Middle-earth. Most of them, therefore, set sail over Sea, and guided by the Star of Eärendil came to the great Isle of Elenna, westernmost of all Mortal lands. There they founded the realm of Númenor.”

What we would hope is referenced in RoP?

·         Númenor, Westernesse or the isle of Elenna was raised from the Great Sea by the Valar at the beginning of the Second Age as a gift to Men for fighting against Morgoth

·         The island of Númenor had a shape of a 5-point star, Armenelos, the City of the Kings was the capital city of Númenor

·         The first King of Númenor was Elros, Tar-Minyatur, son of Eärendil and brother of Elrond

·         The Númenóreans were forbidden by the Valar from sailing so far westward that Númenor was no longer visible, and were barred from travelling to the Undying Lands

·         They did sail to Middle-earth  and Númenor and the Elves of Lindon formed an alliance

·         As great seafarers they colonized parts of Middle-earth and began to exploit the resources here, especially the forests, eventually becoming a brutal maritime empire

·         The Númenoreans becoming envious of the Elves and their immortality

·         Pharazôn usurped the Sceptre, taking Miriel into marriage against her will and against the laws of Númenor, becaming king

·         As the twenty-fifth and last King of Númenor, Ar-Pharazôn had been leader of the King’s Men, turning away from the Valar and Elves and persecuting the Faithful

·         Sauron became the new shadow rising in the East, and Gil-galad sent word to Númenor for aid

·         Ar-Pharazôn sailed to Middle-earth to defeat a resurgent Sauron, taking him back as prisoner. There, Sauron by guile and treachery convinced the king to lay siege to Aman and take immortality

·         The massive fleet was consumed, the world was made round and Númenor was destroyed

It was a tall mountain alone on an empty plateau. Orodruin was the primary reason Sauron chose the land of Mordor as his dwelling-place in the Second Age.   TRoP - Harfoots Migration Route In episode 5 Nori tells us about the Harfoot migration route: “We winter in Old Forest, and mid-summer, we make for Norfield Glen to snail while the snailing is good. And at the first blush of oak leaves, we head to the Grove. A whole orchard, popping with bar apples, plums, apricots, carrots...” Old Forest – This can’t be the Old Forest in LotR where the Hobbits met Tom Bombadil. That is located northeast in Eriador. Nori may be referring to Greenwood the Great, later known as Mirkwood in the Third Age. Old Forest may have been were the Harfoots were eating snails in episode 3. Norfield Glen – Not shown on TRoP maps. Norfield Glen is probably somewhere in the northern part of the hilly region to the south of Greenwood. Weedbrook - a branch of the Anduin River.   The Rings of Power – ‘LeakyRumours’ Fellowship of Fans Meteor man was at Bronwyn’s village, Tirharad during one of the raids. A heavily emotional scene was said to have taken place. ·          This seems like a coming together of the meteor man/Harfoot story and the Bronwyn/Tirharad story arc ·          Does this mean Harfoots will be shown in the lands south of Gondor, Harad referenced in the name of the village ·          Is Tirharad the village we see Arondir, Bronwyn, Theo and Galadriel visiting? Is this the settlement later destroyed in a cataclysmic event? Meteorman will throughout this season use his powers to save the Harfoots from people trying to attack them both. ·          There seems to be an ongoing storyline of the Harfoots and meteor man reminiscent of the Gandalf/Hobbit relationship.
