Who is Meteor-man/The Stranger? Rings of Power
Fellowship of Fans have been theorizing about just who is this controversial and intriguing character who is depicted arriving to earth via a meteor.
Possibilities:
Tilian
A Maia who was given the role of guiding the Moon by the Valar. He was reckless at times, not always follow the correct path and the Moon would be seen during the day or not at all
Eärendil
A half-Elf, father of Elrond, he sailed to Valinor seeking help from the Valar against the way with Morgoth. In his ship Vingilótë he was sent into the skies as a star with the Silmaril bound upon his brow.
One of the Blue Wizards
Alatar or Pallando. Two Wizards were sent to disrupt the work of Sauron in the East during the Second Age. Little was known about these two Istari, and their story changed during Tolkien’s writing.
Gandalf
One of the five Istari sent to Middle-earth by the Valar in the Third Age, Gandalf is a very popular character and the link between the Harfoots and The Stranger may be similar to Gandalf’s affection for the people of The Shire.
Glorfindel
One of the mightiest Elves of Middle-earth who died fighting a Balrog in the First Age. He re-emboded, and allowed to come back to Middle-earth in the Second Age, acting as an emissary of the Valar.
Sauron
500 years into the Second Age the evil Maia started to rise again and a new shadow began the work again of corrupting Men and Elves. Leading to creation of the Rings, the destruction of some Elvish realms and the civilization of Númenor.
Tom Bombadil
This enigmatic character has been in Middle-earth throughout the history of Arda. Of puzzling origins even the One Ring did not affect Tom who possibly existed in both the Seen and the Unseen realms.
Man in the Moon
In the folklore of the Hobbits (and possibly the Men of Gondor), the Man in the Moon is an old being who secretly hid on the island of the Moon. Also a lunar magician in Tolkien’s book Roverandom.
The Meteor-man/The Stranger character is not referenced from any of Tolkien’s writing. He could be another Amazon original character.
